Do you have some experience usign this midbass in free air (door with dynamat)?

Thats fine. I am using mine that way. DD told me that if there going in the door to dynamat the door well and behind the speaker, but it seams you have that covered
|

jcmoron means, if, the w6.5 could damage if he use a long time on that way, because we know, they recomend only ported box in hes page, so, we want know, if the w6.5 could damage on free air or not... thanks

all DD subs can be ran IB (freeair). in such an application power handling and output capability will be far less that what one can get with a ported box.
i have done the W6.5 IB in the doors. no xover they handle about 100 - 150 watts on rap music, depending on how stong and low some of the notes were. with xover @ 50 hz hp they were taking 150w and begging for more. if you put them in ported kicks or ported pods on the door, you can get a lot more volume out of them. somewhere in here is a thread of where a guy built ported kicks. |

here is one thread.
http://forum.soundpressure.com/showthread.php?t=6849 i couldn't find the thread i was talking about where the guy made ported kicks. i think it was another guy from mexico that did it. he had a stiff hose/tube that was external of the kicks from the top. this way they kicks didn't need to be bigger to accomodate the port and he was able to bend and move the port where he wanted it under the dash area. |
